Boss encounter snapshot

Property Value Source Confidence
First boss spawn Wave 20 allthings.how, rouniverse, nerdschalk, roonby High (4-source agreement)
Subsequent spawns every 20–30 waves community observation Medium
Drops relic shards + crafting materials official developer copy High (verifies existence only)

The community converges on Wave 20 as the unlock. The developer-side “BOSSES UPDATE” copy establishes that bosses drop relics and that those relics are craftable into “OP objects” — but it does not publish per-boss HP, attack patterns, or drop rates.

The three named relics

Three relic names are reported by community coverage. Each is only officially confirmed in the broad sense — Slungpy has stated that bosses drop relics that craft into OP objects — but the named, individual relics rest on one source. The wiki surfaces them with provenance:

Fortune Relic

  • Effect — coin drop boost (passive +X% to coin income).
  • Recipe (single source / labelled) — 10 iron shards + 5 wood shards, per rouniverse. [INFERRED-FROM-MECHANICS].
  • Priorityfirst relic to craft. Coin income compounds every other upgrade; forking a Fortune Relic first lets the rest of the crafting pipeline pay for itself.
  • Source label — rouniverse.com/articles/build-a-base-rng-guide/

Vitality Relic

  • Effect — base / block health (passive +X% HP on the cube core).
  • Recipe — not yet documented. [INSUFFICIENT DATA].
  • Priority — second. Vitality is mostly defensive — vital once the boss loop starts but not the first pick.

Sharpness Relic

  • Effect — melee damage on the player’s sword swings.
  • Recipe — not yet documented. [INSUFFICIENT DATA].
  • Priority — third. Sharpness matters when the player supplements auto-fire weapons with manual sword swings.

How to fit relics into the boss loop

A boss attempt that drops relic shards is the only source of relic-tier materials. The cleanest mental model is four steps:

  1. Survive Wave 20. Keep the same Skill Tree priority you used in the standard game — Luck I → Auto Roll → Luck II — until your coin bank crosses the 150K reserve.
  2. Take the relic drop. Bosses drop relic shards that the regular RNG roll never produces. Do not sell them.
  3. Craft your first relic. Use shards at the Crafting Machine. The first craft is the Fortune Relic because its coin-drop boost feeds every subsequent upgrade.
  4. Take the crafted object into the next boss run. The higher-tier objects are the only way to push past the Wave 40 boss at the documented max-wave cap.

The notable pitfall: the Crafting Machine is gated by coins (150,000), not by shards. If your balance isn’t there, your shards accumulate idly. The Coin ETA calculator projects the 150K timeline with player-entered loadouts.

Why duplicates matter

Relic upgrades require duplicate shards. This is the explicit design decision: instead of a “reborn” prestige layer that resets progress, relics consume duplicates to scale up. The trade-off is that selling or dropping extras is always a net loss.

If a community guide or video suggests selling duplicates, treat it as a low-quality source.

What’s not known yet

  • Per-boss HP, attack cadence, drop tables — not published in any second source.
  • Vitality and Sharpness recipes — only Fortune’s recipe is documented.
  • Workshop vs. Crafting Machine distinction — community coverage mentions a “Workshop” at Wave 10 and a “Crafting Machine” at Wave 20; the two may refer to different gates, but the developer has not clarified.

Each of these would unlock a more advanced guide on the wiki. Until they’re independently verifiable, the wiki holds them back from the published body.

The single best open data point

The Wave-20-boss claim is the cleanest independent agreement. Four community sources converge. The next cleanest is the 150,000-coin Crafting Machine gate (Roonby + Earnaldo + RoUniverse). After those, every other relic-and-boss fact carries the [SINGLE-SOURCE] or [INFERRED-FROM-MECHANICS] tag.

Frequently asked questions

When does the first boss spawn?

Wave 20, per allthings.how, rouniverse, nerdschalk, and roonby. Bosses repeat every 20–30 waves thereafter (community observation).

What are the named relics?

Community coverage names three: Fortune (coin income), Vitality (base health), and Sharpness (melee damage). Only the developer's phrase 'relics to craft new OP objects' is officially stated. The names are widely repeated but rest on a single source until the developer confirms.

What is the Fortune Relic recipe?

One community source (rouniverse) reports 10 iron shards + 5 wood shards. The wiki labels this [INFERRED-FROM-MECHANICS] until a second source or the developer confirms.

Should I sell duplicate relic shards?

No. Duplicate shards are the upgrade material — selling them strands your relics at their starting tier.

Does the Crafting Machine unlock affect relic economy?

Yes — the Crafting Machine is where relics become crafted objects. Without it, boss drops accumulate without ever upgrading.

Why no per-boss HP / DPS table on the wiki?

No second source has published that data. The wiki holds the rows back from publication rather than publishing a single-source guess as authoritative.
